Sound description:

Low bass is audibly rolled-off. The overall sound is ‘neutral’ and a bit too ‘clear’ and is lacking ‘body’. It has a very clean and realistic but overly bright sound. One could possibly describe it as ‘boring’ at first listen, yet listening to it for longer periods with quality recordings with much bass in them one gets to appreciate what it does right. There is no listening fatigue using this headphone and is a pleasant listen with a little EQ or from an AVR or integrated amp.
Stereo imaging is stable but not great.
Headstage, just like the other similar driver Sennheiser models, is narrow.
Fortunately EQ / tone control in the bass and around 3kHz can improve tonality making it a more ‘enjoyable’ listen as these days impressive bass is the norm.
The bass to treble quality is quite good, no sharpness and well extended in the treble.
Good sound quality, be it lacking in low bass and subbass compared to current offerings (HD560S etc).
Basically a very similar sound to a HD600.
